I appologize for the lack of lunches, I am currently working on a new VORCAN.com 3.0. 50DollarLunch.com will be integrated into VORCAN.com and for those of you who are members of 50DollarLunch and are having trouble logging in to $50 Lunch to post, this will no longer be a problem. We will have all of our live music paintings as well as our studio collaborations from the past 3 years online, clearly titled and marked whether or not they are still available for purchase. They will be other exciting new features as well!

We are back in Philadelphia tonight! We will be painting The Bridge and The Breaks at World Cafe Live tonight. We painted both post-Phish Bridge shows in Asheville and Knoxville this week and had a blast. The Bridge are playing fantastic and will most certainly dance uncontrollably upon hearing them. The show will start at 8:45 downstairs at World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut St).

On our way to Jones Beach Theater right now, heading up the NJ turnpike. We created an ocelot painting today in honor of Phish's new song, "Ocelot". Really excited to hear what they will play tonight. VORCAN will be painting in the lot. After Phish we will be heading 15 minutes up the road to the Nutty Irishman (323 Main St.,Farmingdale, NY) to paint The Bridge. You may have seen the nationally touring band play with Mike Gordon this summer. Lets all hope for a reprise. Here's "Ocelot"...

VORCAN is back on the East Coast and ready for Phish tour! After a 3 day drive across the country from the Bay Area to Philadelphia, PA, we made it to Fenway Stadium in Boston, MA for first show of Phish's summer tour. We had not been back in Boston since our 50 paintings in 50 States in 50 days tour last year. Fenway is a legendary ballpark and it was quite an honor for everyone to be able to celebrate Phish in such a historic place. The rain came and went before the show began, allowing the sky to open up and the sun to beam down. A fantastic rainbow formed over Fenway, was a beautiful day at the ballpark. Phish walked out of the dugout and to the pitcher's mound to perform "Star Spangled Banner" a capella; an appropriate beginning to a stellar night of music. With a slew of new songs and a healthy glow about them, it is safe to say that Phish is back!.

It was great to meet up with many friends old and new. More and more words as tour continues, we are rushing back to Jersey to work on an Ocelot painting. We will painting in the lot at Jones Beach tomorrow as well as a POST PHISH AFTER PARTY! With our good friends The Bridge! The Bridge will be performing at Nutty Irishman (323 Main St.,Farmingdale, NY) at midnight. If you haven't seen The Bridge, they are one of the best bands performing in the country today and you will not be disappointed! More words and pics tomorrow, we'll be reporting from the field. Back to back lunches. Making up for lost time. We are 110 miles from Wendover, the border town between Nevada and Utah. Its also the last stop to gamble...we won't be stopping this time, another 110 miles beyond is SLC, our brief destination. Hopefully we'll be able to stop in Este Pizza before we begin heading East again, its the best pizza in the West, order "The Vortman".

While we were in Portland last week we were commissioned by Portland's own legendary space rockers, No Go Know. They are about to release an incredible double album to be followed up by a national tour this Summer. No Go Know's guitarist, Scott Taylor, hired us to paint his massive mothership of a pedal board. It was an honor and we had a great time painting it while listening to their new album, Time Has Nothing To Do With It. The album won't be released until July, but visit NoGoknow.net and check out their music and other impressive albums!

Today's lunch is inspired by a television show with the same title. Besides Slimer, it was this show that one the affection of green slime with children everywhere.

The $50 Lunch has been out of commission for the past week, we apologize. I have been hard at work at updating VORCAN.com as well as both 50DollarLunch.com and 500DollarLunch.com. Look for many new features on VORCAN.com on the days to come...

We are heading to the East Coast this week. We just left the Bay Area in California this afternoon where we had a great time spending Memorial Day Weekend...more on that in a blog post or two. Right now we have to fill you in on what we have been up to. May 16th we locked it down in our Portland Studio AND raged the Portland Art Hop on NE Alberta St. Vort set up a booth at the Art Hop and had a great time talking with people all day. Many had recognized us from recent shows we painted in Portland and immediately ran up and put on the 3-D glasses. Many new collectors were made. Meanwhile, I finished painting 14 new studio collaborations that day. The following Monday, we were able to spend a little R&R with our favorite Portland artist, Kelly Neidig, www.kellyneidig.com, and went to the Oregon Coast. We rented beach bikes and cruised around. I recommend doing this sometime, great form of exercise, a lot of fun, and cheap to rent. Manzanitas, OR is a small resort town on the Oregon coast. The beach is always impacted with high winds and crazy waves. It makes it a perfect place for Kite Surfers and Wind Surfers alike, there were plenty of them out on the ocean taking advantage of the optimum conditions.

Back in Portland tonight working in the studio. We had a lot of fun painting Izabella in Eugene last night. Izabella opened the evening and inspired "Absinthe", our newest live line art piece. Seattle based jamband, Flowmotion headlined the evening and "Arigato" was created. We will be meeting back up with them at the River City Saloon in Hood River, OR tomorrow night.

This is the second krylon collab of many more to come. "Bubo" is titled after the mechanical owl in Clash Of The Titans. He may not actually exist in greek mythology, but he is alive and well in our mythology. This painting maybe considered "Bubo 3.0", definitely a more stream-lined futuristic version of the original.

We had a great time painting Blue Turtle Seduction last night at The Goodfoot here in Portland. I cannot stress enough how much fun Blue Turtle Seduction is! They are a breath of fresh air under any classification of music. The best part about BTS though is that they don't just fit into any one genre and are not a "typical" jam band by any means. Their fun infused brand of music keeps people dancing and singing and most importantly participating with the band. Blue Turtle Seduction inspired two sets of paintings. The first, "Anger Management", inspired a love affair of prehistoric proportions. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Seduction" was created during the second set...the name says it all. We are looking forward to painting Blue Turtle Seduction again very soon.

Today we are on our way down route 5 to Eugene, OR. Isabella and Flowmotion will be performing at WOW Hall and we will be painting. This will be the first night of a four night run with Isabella. It won't be long until we're back in Hawaii wearing flowers around our necks. I think Cank was longing for Maui when he painted this last night. The last 24 hours yielded 14 new works you'll be seeing on the lunch over the next few weeks. I still see a few more Krylon's Cank plans to finish before we leave for the Goodfoot in a few hours for Blue Turtle Seduction. We've set up the schedule to keep us painting in Oregon until we fly back east for Fenway and Jones Beach at the end of the month.

We met back up with our favorite Portland band, The Quick & Easy Boys at The Goodfoot Lounge Saturday night. They were performing with Brooklyn based, The Pimps Of Joytime. It was a funk filled evening with a huge crowd of all smiles dancing. The Quick & Easy Boys played turned the heat on immediately...coaxing lots of screaming and partial nudity...by the time The Pimps Of Joytime took the stage, the crowd was in a frenzy. They laid down some serious world class funk. Currently on a national tour, The Pimps Of Joytime are definitely worth checking out if they are in your area. You will be amazed.
